I was checking some news about a site criticizing a japanese game for its highly suggestive dialogues, which were labeled as innuendos. I know that it isn’t probably too fine to talk about it, since there may be people under age visiting here, but I decided to discuss about how these kind of stuff is present in many things and sometimes we don’t even notice.

The innuendos,  to anyone who doesn’t know what it means, it’s a kind of insinuation, mostly sexually related or just suggesting some kind of romance or desire. For some personal reasons, japanese commercial area tends to show that (a lot). You can see them clearly in animes, noticing the big breasts of girls (some even highly exaggerating XD), some partial nudity scenes and some situations like the famous Hot Springs, where guys are always eager to peek/end up peeking on the girls naked.

Well, thing is, almost all animes have this kind of thing added, in some just a tiny thing and in others a lot. And seeing that most that are directed to children also contain these kind of scenes, it intrigues me if it’s any good to make these influences over kids. Of course, older people like me usually don’t care about it, already knowing what it means and all. But for children to watch this it may be as bad as violence.

Anyway, I just wanted to hear your opinions on this matter, and I’ll probably post this subject on forums later. Below are some examples of these innuendos: two pictures, of Maya Natsume from Tenjho Tenge and of Tsunade from Naruto, and a video showing a scene of Ar Tonelico.

Just a reminder: The following files don’t contain any nudity or anything considered profanity or inappropriate, but their content are highly suggestive. You have been warned.

It’s not so long since I heard about Akihabara, the famous japanese place known as the Electric Town, full of anime, manga and video games stuff. I decided to research a bit on this town, and have been finding some peculiar stuff about it, but most of all interesting. So, everytime I can I will try to show something of Akihabara in here, and to not stand on the obvious since most people already know about it, I’ll add the most different/interesting/original things from there.

I’ll start by posting some types of food that you can find there. Some of them look really yummy, some others are already familiar and known and a few others might border on the grotesque, so prepare your stomachs. XD

Omelet Rice. Looks kinda cute, doesn’t it? :P

This is called Canned Oden. It looks like a simple Cup Noodles-like ramen can, but actually you can eat that can with yakitoris, stews, soups and also puddings.

Going through a kind of “unique route”, this is the Tsundere Rice. Yeah, it is based on the Tsundere subculture/personality. It consists of rice mixed up with pieces of raw meat covered with wasabi and cool cream dressing, and served with a peculiar “golden egg”.

This one might be pretty known already, it’s the Osakan Okonomiyaki. Looks yummy, huh?

This is knon as a Tokyo Hot Dog. Full of baked cheese crispy and served with pink lemonade and potato chips. I’m eager to try it. *.*

This is my favorite one. The Akiba Burger!! It’s a 22cm sandwich full of beef. Excellent for who likes to take a lot of protein. XD

So what do you think of these “gourmet sensations”? Feel any hungry? ^_-

I was browsing around with my Google Reader with Google Chrome Beta version (using some extension), and was read most posts from friends’ blogs and some other fave site like JapanProbe.com
Then I saw this.. from DannyChoo.com
I thought the Kyoto Animation Studio is making the Live-action of K-On!
But it’s not.. It was about the school!
Have a look at it.
(most of the info below is from the DannyChoo.com and the school homepage)

Well kind of – the school that the K-ON! girls attend is said to be based on the Toyosato Elementary School in the Shiga Prefecture.
The new report below shows how the school has become a sacred place for K-ON! fans from all over the world. Have a look at the schools home page too for more photos
This is the preview of the Toyosato Elementary School home page.
Originally in Japanese Language, but I automatically translated it to English using Google Translator.

Making an anchor of Sena’s post about hamburger vending machines, I’m going to post here the craziest types of VMs I found through the internet. I got shocked when I read that Japan has over 5 million vending machines, and all of them have the most varied functions. Besides the most famous vending machines of candy, little toys and drinks, I found many weird products that can be purchased from them, like fish, rice, hot food and even underwears(!!!). Some brazilians would say: “Oh, it’s such a laziness to have everything sold by machines. They just go there, press a button, put the cash in and they’re done. Nothing more.” Of course, I disagree. And that’s why I’m gonna show some pictures of it.

This is an Egg Vending Machine. Believe it or not, they say the eggs from there are farm fresh. What about giving a try?

Similar to the Hot Coffee VMs we have, still really interesting. How about a hot ramen coming from this thing?

May look like a washer, but this is a type of Toy Vending Machine. Cool huh?

This is actually one of the most peculiar ones I’ve seen in this category. Looks really interesting to get your flowers like this. What intrigues me is if you get the flower by opening up the machine or if the flower is picked and thrown out like the drinks.

If you wanna check more interesting vending machines I found a lot of them here.

And after checking all this I respond to my fellow distrustful brazilians: “This isn’t laziness, this is called technology.”

Comments are always welcomed. Cya.

Seriously though, need I say more?  Would you go up to your friends after work, on the streets, standing next to a vending machine and say, “Yo! Want some Moo Moo White Pop?”

*** Hang my head in shame at the thought of mentioning that…***

With a yoghurty base (a bit like Calpis), low on calories (perfect for girls) and high in calcium (great for kids :P ) all covered in a cow patterned bottle…

Talking of cows, according to Japanator, more Cow Moo Patterns are popping all over Japan, with sumo stars Akebono and Jun Komori, dressed up in cow costumes for some promotional event at a Burger King for the drink.  Hop over to Sanspo has some crazy pictures from the promotional event.

Even stranger is the first commercial for Moo Moo White. Fanta.jp has a streaming version, where you’ll see a rock band named FANTA preparing to go on stage.

So when was the first ever time you have eaten ramen? For me it was when I was really young, but do you remember all the different flavours you have eaten? No? Just imagine that you where a man, whom since 1997, has been keeping detailed track of his instant noodle consumption. Such detailed track, in fact, that you can read reviews of the 4,308 types of noodles he’s eaten on his website.

The website is in Japanese, so you may need to run it through a translation service. While you do that, I’ll be here and wondering what kind of health issues could come as a result of all the preservatives in a few thousand pre-packaged servings of instant noodles.

Post image for 10-Feet Japanese Spider Crab Found in Britain!

I just stumbled across this thing when reading articles of a Japan News site. Nicknamed Crabzilla, this “enormous little thing” is so far the biggest crab ever seen in Britain. As specialists said, this animal has 10 ft claw to claw and could have a long life of 100 years. And it is of a japanese species of crab, as they are known as Spider Crabs that live around Japan.

I just wonder how they can get so big. O.O Japan once more showing that it has strong life rate, fauna and flora. XD

All are free to comment. ^^

So here in Japan, in a dark back street just a minute away from JR Shimbashi station, you can find a place run by an 80-year-old man who likes to throw his sushi in the air…
Why throw you ask? Apparantly it will make the sushi taste greater! So by taking the sushi chef to another location, such as the gymnasium, they revealed that he has the ability to throw it nearly 4 meters into the air as well as tasting good! Well let’s drool at this video!

So anything willing to throw a block of wood in teh air next to your guest? I guess this needs the DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME! :P
