Gundam fans can be pretty happy to know that in April 24 (last saturday), Bandai opened a Gundam Café in Akihabara. It contains a lot of unique stuff from the series, from gashapons and statues to simple Gundam-based decorations.

Fans of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya might like to read about this. Some fans have created a cross-over animation based in the series with Invader Zim, simulating a possible invasion of the aliens from that series. The combination was actually pretty good and by the trailer (that you'll see below) they seem to be promising a great series ahead.
The series have no official title yet. Featured characters include Suzumiya Haruhi, Zim, Kyon, Gir, Itsuki, Dib, Nagato, Gaz, Mikuru, Tak and others.

And here's a making of of the animation:

It seems that a blogger from dannychoo.com has created a new anime project studio named Mirai Fusion, and it seems they have a brand new anime in production. Its name is Chinka (in kanji means something like "put out a fire").

During last week I went to São Paulo with my family, and I wanted to go specially because of a certain place: it's the Bairro da Liberdade (literally Freedom neighborhood in portuguese), nicknamed Liba by brazilians. Well, thing is, this place has many japanese people who came from migration decades ago, and is where they set up their homes. They currently use it to spread some of their culture of commerce, and that's the part I love.

It's been all over otakus' blogs, everywhere in every corner of the internet. Bleach fans have been outraged to learn that the comic has apparently been the subject of shameless plagiarism in the American comic book “Incarnate” by Nick Simmons.

I was checking some news about a site criticizing a japanese game for its highly suggestive dialogues, which were labeled as innuendos. I know that it isn't probably too fine to talk about it, since there may be people under age visiting here, but I decided to discuss about how these kind of stuff is present in many things and sometimes we don't even notice. The innuendos, to anyone who doesn't know what it means, it's a kind of insinuation, mostly sexually related or just suggesting some kind of romance or desire. For some personal reasons, japanese commercial area tends to show that (a lot). You can see them clearly in animes, noticing the big breasts of girls (some even highly exaggerating XD), some partial nudity scenes and some situations like the famous Hot Springs, where guys are always eager to peek/end up peeking on the girls naked. Well, thing is, almost all animes have this kind of thing added, in some just a tiny thing and in others a lot. And seeing that most that are directed to children also contain these kind of scenes, it intrigues me if it's any good to make these influences over kids. Of course, older people like me usually don't care about it, already knowing what it means and all. But for children to watch this it may be as bad as violence. Anyway, I just wanted to hear your opinions on this matter, and I'll probably post this subject on forums later. Below are some examples of these innuendos: two pictures, of Maya Natsume from Tenjho Tenge and of Tsunade from Naruto, and a video showing a scene of Ar Tonelico. Just a reminder: The following files don't contain any nudity or anything considered profanity or inappropriate, but their content are highly suggestive. You have been warned.
