As I like to introduce interesting food, and like even more the ones from Japan, here is another one for you all: The Mini Dog Pizza!!!

I found a really interesting food article on Danny Choo's website/blog or whatever you call it. Apparently you have to purchase a food ticket in front of the restaurant so they can custom build (cook in this case) you desired bowl of ramen. I would definitely try this place out if I can go to Japan. Check out the page at Japanese Food
During last week I went to São Paulo with my family, and I wanted to go specially because of a certain place: it's the Bairro da Liberdade (literally Freedom neighborhood in portuguese), nicknamed Liba by brazilians. Well, thing is, this place has many japanese people who came from migration decades ago, and is where they set up their homes. They currently use it to spread some of their culture of commerce, and that's the part I love.

It's not so long since I heard about Akihabara, the famous japanese place known as the Electric Town, full of anime, manga and video games stuff. I decided to research a bit on this town, and have been finding some peculiar stuff about it, but most of all interesting. So, everytime I can I will try to show something of Akihabara in here, and to not stand on the obvious since most people already know about it, I'll add the most different/interesting/original things from there. I'll start by posting some types of food that you can find there. Some of them look really yummy, some others are already familiar and known and a few others might border on the grotesque, so prepare your stomachs. XD

I'm sure that my grandmother wouldn't steal products from the supermarket, but this granny seems to do it.... One must think, why do it? Surely her family has to give her money or is it another reason? Don't know whether to feel sorry or "Serves her right" on this until you get to the end... The growing number of elderly shoplifters in Japan is a problem that has been covered a lot in the international media, and, as you may have seen above, it also gets attention on hidden camera shoplifting reports. Why do people shoplift? Kyodo News has reported on a newly released survey form the Tokyo police:
Twenty-four percent of 204 people aged 65 and older charged recently with shoplifting by the Metropolitan Police Department said they were driven to do so by their feelings of loneliness. One said he was living alone after getting divorced and had just 21 yen at the time of his arrest in a supermarket. The police added that 8 percent of the elderly people surveyed — the second largest group — cited a lack of motivation in life and 7 percent said their crimes were prompted by frustration. Forty percent of the elderly offenders live alone and 53 percent said they do not have any friends. At the other end of the age spectrum, 27 percent of minors caught by the police said they felt that shoplifting was like a game, followed by 23 percent who said they just wanted the items they stole. And it's not just old grannies stealing food, seems that foreigners are too... The shoplifter in this clip was a Chinese student, apparently stealing some food he wanted to eat. After he is taken away by police, the narrator announces that in the case of foreign criminals, there are “many” instances of groups working together to shoplift from Japanese stores. So I guess, the important lesson here is, look after your grandmother, and never EVER make her feel lonely! She's a vital part of the family as well and deserves respect! **Wanders off to hand some Pocky to his grandmother...*** Oh and don't steal, it's bad. [JapanProbe]
So to round of this week, here are some odds and ends of what has been happening in Japan this week! First, we have a chimpanzee being taught how to eat various Japanese foods: Next we have a toilet that tells you how it feels after being flushed... And finally, one of Japan's major airports has introduced single seat electric tricycles that will be used to patrol the airport halls and information desks. The tricycles, developed by Toyota, can operate at a top speed of 15 kilometres per hour. Some of those used at Chubu Airport will also carry emergency medical kit and computers that will allow airport staff to check flight schedules for passengers. I soo want to have a ride on those!!! I'm sure that you have been to a sushi restaurant where you are (Yo-Sushi in the UK) and you see these conveyer belts zooming along throughout the restaurant ladled with sushi for you to help yourself... And at the end you pay for the amount of sushi plates you have on your table. But what if, we use those plates to play a Fruit Machine Style game? And also make it a bit more hi tech?
Used plates are put into a slot, tallying the price of what you ate and sending the dish back for cleaning. For every 5 plates eaten, a little slot machine game is played. Kids love winning prizes. Each plate has an IC chip. When a plate has been going around the conveyor belt for too long, it is automatically classified as old sushi and dumped. When there are only a few customers at the restaurant, the length of the conveyor belt can be adjusted. A computer system keeps track of how many customers enter the restaurant, and it calculates the amount of sushi that chefs must make at any given time. Now that's one restaurant I sure want to go to in Japan! ^_^
Previously... Watanuki finds out that his food HAS been tasted..... Now... The woman tells Watanuki that they were terrible!? She then goes on to clarify that her rice balls were horrible compared to his. In his food she tasted how kind he was in his intentions toward her, but hers were empty of any feeling. Because of this emptiness she even puts her engagement on hold! And a big reveal happened about her, [that any one reading the series already knew]she hates herself. The ex-customer then requests that Watanuki once again becomes her teacher! Now what happens? Will Yuko reappear? My POV... I am kicking myself -.- since I finally understand this arc. I can't believe that I didn't understand it when Doumecki pointed it out in a previous chapter. When you cook food ,you put your personality into it by making it a little sweeter or saltier. It had been right there in my face but I still had no clue. *face to palm* I wonder... could that be considered a red herring? to the reader because the plot of this arc was buried under all the action. One awesome aspect to this chapter is Doumeki's expressions throughout. Loved them!!!
