KARA - Mister (Japanese Ver.) MV

IT'S FINALLY HERE!!!! Yes, the MV that all of us KARA fan have been waiting for since their Korean release is FINALLY here!!!  The song sounds great in Japanese. I feel as though they transferred it to Japanese quite nicely, they kept the same sound and consistency which took over Korea way back in 2009.  In the MV, they still stick to the same general style as before, but we get to see some new styles, such as their military one, that show off their sexiness/cuteness.  I'll try and post a better quality version once it is released, but for now check out the MV for yourself and tell us what you think!!

Come check out our Official KARA Thread and spazz about their new song/MV!

Club Sega - One of the best gaming places of Japan

Introducing here to anyone who doesn't know or haven't seen, Club Sega is a place for arcade games and is considered one of the best in Japan, with tons of games like Street Fighter, Virtua Fighter, UFO Catcher (considered by most the best of them), pinballs, gamble games and a majority of other arcade games.

There are many Club Segas around Japan, but the one favorited by otakus is the one in Akihabara, mostly because it's located right in the "heart" of the town and because of its larger structure. There are six floors full of games to be played in that one.

Club Sega is so famous that it is even depicted in the video game series Yakuza (Ryu Ga Gotoku). Below there is a video of Yakuza 3(recently released to the PlayStation2)that shows with details the main character going into Club Sega and playing a lot of games.    Certainly, Club Sega is one of THE gamers' places. A really nice place to spend your money and to enjoy yourself playing till you eyes burn.

BJT (Bizarre Japanese Toys) is back, as well as me posting here. :P And I got lucky to find out something interesting to bring you all. You see, TV Tokyo hosted a competition in which some Lego experts made projects for what we could say "hamster Disneyworlds", all made with Lego pieces. Below there is an image and a video that show it better.

Well, hope you can share your thoughts on these peculiar Lego creations. By the way, I'm really happy to be back posting around JAP-On, now with a new face.^^ Source: japanprobe.com

Personal Trip: Bairro da Liberdade (Liba)

During last week I went to São Paulo with my family, and I wanted to go specially because of a certain place: it's the Bairro da Liberdade (literally Freedom neighborhood in portuguese), nicknamed Liba by brazilians. Well, thing is, this place has many japanese people who came from migration decades ago, and is where they set up their homes. They currently use it to spread some of their culture of commerce, and that's the part I love.

Liba is known by most brazilians as the source of japanese food, animes and mangas, as well as accessories and a bit of culture in overall. Unfortunately, coreans and chinese people have been coming to the same place and kind of mixing all up, putting the japanese people aside. But you still can find a lot of things related to Japan there. In there I got the opportunity to taste many Japan foods I always had the curiosity for: Gyoza, Takoyaki, Okonomiyaki, Miso Soup, Ramen and of course, Pocky!! And many different types of Pocky: Chocolate, strawberry, crunchy chocolate and crunchy strawberry. Hehe..:P Liba is a great source of Pocky. Now, if you go to Liba to find anime/manga related stuff, your place is SoGo Plaza Shopping.
It has 3 floors full of stores dedicated to anime and manga. Most stores contain gashapons (anime action figures), DVDs (from animes, tokusatsu, music artists, films, live actions and dramas), mangas (a lot of them), and minor accessories such as clothes and keyrings. Below are some pictures of products me and my sister took while in there:
Like I said it's really fun. It's worth to check if you are the "Otaku" kind of person. That's it of Liba for now. Maybe I can add some other stuff such as food places around there. Comments, anyone?

Get Your Q-Pot Chocolate Cell Phone NOW!!!

A famous japanese company named Docomo made a partnership with Q-Pot, a jewelry brand known for having unique and great-looking designs, and they made a peculiar type of cellphones,  model SH-04B. Made to look like nothing more than....chocolate!!!

It has the functions of a normal cell phone, what really makes it so special is this awesome (and yummy) design. The phone even comes in a type of "chocolate box", and has some special add-ons within it. It's more to look at it than to talk about it, so let's see some more pictures:

So, wanna try the Q-Pot chocolate cell phone? Sources: En.gigazine.net Nttdocomo.co.jp

BJT(Bizarre Japanese Toys) - Meet the Hex Bug!

I'll start showing here a series of bizarre toys you can find in Japan, from the most technological to the most simple and crazy. As it will be too much things to show, and to not make such a long post, these posts will be separated into each for a particular object/toy, and it's also because it will be a recurring subject. Then these series will start with a really interesting one found in the internet: the Hex Bug.

The Hex Bug is a simple little robot designed as a bug. And not just designed!! He actually acts like a bug and has sensors that can react to touching and sounds, as well as detecting a barrier/wall and then turning themselves away from it. They are powered by two button cell batteries, and there's a lot of nanotechnology involved as you can see in the picture below.

These interesting little fellas were developed to have that "smart brain" factor, that most robotic inventions from Japan have these days. A lot of models were made, including ants, crabs, spiders, ladybugs and even two more called inchworms and nanos. They might look hideous as insects, but they can also be really adorable.

Comments, anyone? Think you can handle a Hex Bug in your home? XD

Japanese Innuendos: Are they really dangerous?

I was checking some news about a site criticizing a japanese game for its highly suggestive dialogues, which were labeled as innuendos. I know that it isn't probably too fine to talk about it, since there may be people under age visiting here, but I decided to discuss about how these kind of stuff is present in many things and sometimes we don't even notice. The innuendos,  to anyone who doesn't know what it means, it's a kind of insinuation, mostly sexually related or just suggesting some kind of romance or desire. For some personal reasons, japanese commercial area tends to show that (a lot). You can see them clearly in animes, noticing the big breasts of girls (some even highly exaggerating XD), some partial nudity scenes and some situations like the famous Hot Springs, where guys are always eager to peek/end up peeking on the girls naked. Well, thing is, almost all animes have this kind of thing added, in some just a tiny thing and in others a lot. And seeing that most that are directed to children also contain these kind of scenes, it intrigues me if it's any good to make these influences over kids. Of course, older people like me usually don't care about it, already knowing what it means and all. But for children to watch this it may be as bad as violence. Anyway, I just wanted to hear your opinions on this matter, and I'll probably post this subject on forums later. Below are some examples of these innuendos: two pictures, of Maya Natsume from Tenjho Tenge and of Tsunade from Naruto, and a video showing a scene of Ar Tonelico. Just a reminder: The following files don't contain any nudity or anything considered profanity or inappropriate, but their content are highly suggestive. You have been warned.

The Craziest Japanese Vending Machines!

Making an anchor of Sena's post about hamburger vending machines, I'm going to post here the craziest types of VMs I found through the internet. I got shocked when I read that Japan has over 5 million vending machines, and all of them have the most varied functions. Besides the most famous vending machines of candy, little toys and drinks, I found many weird products that can be purchased from them, like fish, rice, hot food and even underwears(!!!). Some brazilians would say: "Oh, it's such a laziness to have everything sold by machines. They just go there, press a button, put the cash in and they're done. Nothing more." Of course, I disagree. And that's why I'm gonna show some pictures of it. This is an Egg Vending Machine. Believe it or not, they say the eggs from there are farm fresh. What about giving a try?

Similar to the Hot Coffee VMs we have, still really interesting. How about a hot ramen coming from this thing?
May look like a washer, but this is a type of Toy Vending Machine. Cool huh?
This is actually one of the most peculiar ones I've seen in this category. Looks really interesting to get your flowers like this. What intrigues me is if you get the flower by opening up the machine or if the flower is picked and thrown out like the drinks.
If you wanna check more interesting vending machines I found a lot of them here. And after checking all this I respond to my fellow distrustful brazilians: "This isn't laziness, this is called technology." Comments are always welcomed. Cya.
