Mascotmania in Hikone

Ever been to a Mascot Summit in Japan?  Where there are like mascots on every street corner?  Or even see a mascot being protected by bodyguards?  Well you will see it in Hikone!

NTV’s “Zoom In” morning show has shown a the mascot summit that was recently held in Hikone, a yura-character where more than 130 mascot characters attended, making it the biggest event of its kind in Japan: The most popular non-Hikonyan mascots at the event were the cuddly animal versions of famous Sengoku period samurai. Ishida Mitsunyan, a feline mascot based on Ishida Mitsunari was especially popular with the ladies, many of whom no doubt became his fans due to his manly portrayal in the Sengoku Basara video games. We maybe need to have a JAP-On! Mascot to attend this very event next year! Although it may not be popular elsewhere, at least we know that even video games have cuddly mascots!  And maybe even bodyguards protecting us from fans like Fairchild! :P [JapanProbe]

Windows 7-Mania hits worldwide

Windows 7 hits worldwide today, with according to Amazon, the biggest preorder hostory since Harry Potter's last instalment. Now Microsoft has taken the unusual step of promoting Windows 7 in Japan with a Burger King's launch of the  Windows 7 Whopper. Fitting in with the software theme, the burger stacks seven patties in an otherwise normal Whopper and measures 13cm tall and with an appropriate 777 yen price. Speaking of which, it seems Windows 7 Anime Mascot is:

No not him, although someone should quietly mention that Bill Gates isn't the Microsoft boss now :P  Someone called Steve Balmer may get barmy! :P

It's her!  The new Windows 7 Mascot :P

To show you how mad the Japanese are at getting this new Windows release, take a peek at this video. [Burger King Japan] [DannyChoo]
