Club Sega - One of the best gaming places of Japan

Introducing here to anyone who doesn't know or haven't seen, Club Sega is a place for arcade games and is considered one of the best in Japan, with tons of games like Street Fighter, Virtua Fighter, UFO Catcher (considered by most the best of them), pinballs, gamble games and a majority of other arcade games.

There are many Club Segas around Japan, but the one favorited by otakus is the one in Akihabara, mostly because it's located right in the "heart" of the town and because of its larger structure. There are six floors full of games to be played in that one.

Club Sega is so famous that it is even depicted in the video game series Yakuza (Ryu Ga Gotoku). Below there is a video of Yakuza 3(recently released to the PlayStation2)that shows with details the main character going into Club Sega and playing a lot of games.    Certainly, Club Sega is one of THE gamers' places. A really nice place to spend your money and to enjoy yourself playing till you eyes burn.

BJT - Lego for Hamsters

BJT (Bizarre Japanese Toys) is back, as well as me posting here. :P And I got lucky to find out something interesting to bring you all. You see, TV Tokyo hosted a competition in which some Lego experts made projects for what we could say "hamster Disneyworlds", all made with Lego pieces. Below there is an image and a video that show it better.

Well, hope you can share your thoughts on these peculiar Lego creations. By the way, I'm really happy to be back posting around JAP-On, now with a new face.^^ Source: japanprobe.com

BJT - Meet the Lokuloku Pig!

Bizarre Japanese Toys is up for another toy introduction: The Lokuloku Pig.

What about having an adorable pig that retains its shape even after being completely squashed through to the ground? This toy costs only the equivalent of 3 dollars, and still it's one of the most amazing (and bizarre) in Japan. It is sold in many other colors.     Below is a video showing how it works. Really crazy. :P So how about getting yourself a Lokuloku pig? Source: Doobybrain.com

Tokyo Capsule Hotels. Need a Rest? Get Your Cell Ready!!

Tokyo already proved and keeps proving that their technology is the best. AND the weirdest. Most people already know about the Capsule Hotels, where instead of a room you get a cell to sleep on. That's right. To anyone who doesn't know about it, I'll show some pictures here.

As you see, the person can fit well into the "boxes", with just a possible problem of comfort. But looks like an adventure, huh? You all can share your thoughts of this japanese unique feature. ^^

Interesting Food From Akihabara

It's not so long since I heard about Akihabara, the famous japanese place known as the Electric Town, full of anime, manga and video games stuff. I decided to research a bit on this town, and have been finding some peculiar stuff about it, but most of all interesting. So, everytime I can I will try to show something of Akihabara in here, and to not stand on the obvious since most people already know about it, I'll add the most different/interesting/original things from there. I'll start by posting some types of food that you can find there. Some of them look really yummy, some others are already familiar and known and a few others might border on the grotesque, so prepare your stomachs. XD

Omelet Rice. Looks kinda cute, doesn't it? :P
This is called Canned Oden. It looks like a simple Cup Noodles-like ramen can, but actually you can eat that can with yakitoris, stews, soups and also puddings.
Going through a kind of "unique route", this is the Tsundere Rice. Yeah, it is based on the Tsundere subculture/personality. It consists of rice mixed up with pieces of raw meat covered with wasabi and cool cream dressing, and served with a peculiar "golden egg".
This one might be pretty known already, it's the Osakan Okonomiyaki. Looks yummy, huh?
This is knon as a Tokyo Hot Dog. Full of baked cheese crispy and served with pink lemonade and potato chips. I'm eager to try it. *.*
This is my favorite one. The Akiba Burger!! It's a 22cm sandwich full of beef. Excellent for who likes to take a lot of protein. XD So what do you think of these "gourmet sensations"? Feel any hungry? ^_-

Saving money on JR’s Narita Express & Suica card Combo

Want to know how to save around 1500 yen when you purchase the JR’s Narita Express & a Suica card combo if your purchase it at the airport?  It’s a special deal only foreign tourist (yay! that's my team!)  for those who can present a foreign passport at the time of purchase.

A suica card is like an Oyster card (to us in the UK), an Octopus Card (to people in HK), more like a wireless payment card where users just wave and go on the reader.  By purchasing both the journey and the card at the same time, you will save 1500 yen already which is pretty sweet since you can have a pretty decent meal when you arrive at your destination in Japan!  Take a look at this video where you can be a tourist in this video of a look around Narita Airport and how to get this deal. Right, JAP-On! Team, Fairchild has purchased us Xmas Tickets to Tokyo so pack your bags!  And thank Fairchild for the airline tickets! ^__^ [JapanTravelTV]

Oxford Circus 'X-crossing' inspired from Tokyo opens

One of Europe's busiest diagonal crossings has opened in central London's Oxford Circus.

Based on crossings in Tokyo, the new design stops traffic in all directions, allowing shoppers to cross diagonally in an "X" as well as straight ahead. The £5m junction is able to handle double the number of pedestrians and ease overcrowding at the busy intersection. A giant X, in the form of 60m (196ft) of red ribbon was also unfurled by devotees of cult Japanese Manga characters dressed in colourful costumes.

So what is it like to cross diagonally at the crossing? BBC's Mike Ramsden found out what people think of it.

Do note, the videos may only work for the UK, so apologies if they do not work for you! [BBC]

The Hamburger Machine of Japan

“Nanikore Chin Hakkei” finds a restaurant in Tokyo’s Katsushika ward that has a hamburger vending machine: The vending machine sells hamburgers for 100 yen each. Upon inserting a single 100 yen coin, a hamburger quickly comes out of the machine. However, a second try fails to produce a hamburger. It turns out that it can only hold a single hamburger and is operated manually by the man who runs the store. If you want more than one burger, you’ve got to go inside and order it. After his restaurant got featured on TV for its weird vending machine, the owner installed a second manual vending machine that sells 300 yen “royal” burgers (normal burgers with some added tomato and bacon). If you want check it out for yourself, you can find it here on google maps:

A first person view of Japan

So there was a close friend of mine **waves to her** wants to know what Japan is like since she doesn't have the ability to go there for the moment, hopefully this video of a cruise around Kyoto in Japan from the first person view would be a good idea. It is totally immersive and makes me wish I was back in Japan again! Please try and watch them in HD as if will liven the experience of the videos played here! And here is a cruise around Tokyo in Japan: And to end the day in Japan and to a friend who is sad, watching the sunset from the beach in High Definition would be the best way to feel the calmness all over you :3 egawauemon seems to be one of the best Videographers in Japan, shooting video using the Canon 5D2 (EF24mm-F2.8) GLIDECAM HD-2000 along with a stabiliser thus allowing other people around the world who cannot visit Japan to see how beautiful the city is from a first person view. Click the link below to take a look at the other videos he has shot around Japan! [egawauemon]
